Toqueur: MAST x Urban Chaos

Join us for two sets from amazing jazz bands Urban Chaos and MAST.

Doors open at 19:30.

Urban Chaos: Nick Adema leads an Amsterdam group that challenges the notions of our urban cityscape, yearning for a pragmatic future. Urban chaos is a facade of Metropolis life that strips away our perception of reality. Original in nature, the compositions offer moments of consistent dissonance, uniform chaos and melodic clarity. Inspired by the climate of contemporary creative music, Nick has blended a series of compositions that is predicated on a frenzy of rhythmic and melodic questions. The players carry out the vision of this ensemble with clever intent, and meaningful dialogue. This ensemble created there debut album recording in October 2023 in Wisselord studios which featured critically acclaimed saxophonist Noah Preminger (which is set to be released in September 2024 with Zennez Records).

MAST is a dynamic modern jazz quartet based in Amsterdam, composed of Miguel Valente on saxophone, Adrian Bifano on guitar, Samuel Kiel on bass, and Teunis Loot on drums. As part of Amsterdam's new generation of jazz musicians, MAST seamlessly blends classic and contemporary styles, drawing inspiration from jazz legends and contemporary music beyond the genre. The quartet’s music is characterized by intricate compositions, dynamic improvisation, and heartfelt expression
